Invitation to a public meeting on constitutional reform
Wednesday 22 September, 6.30 pm – 8 pm, Stockbridge Library

The new UK Coalition Government is proposing major constitutional changes including

• A referendum on changing to the ‘alternative vote’ system for UK elections
• 5 year fixed terms for the House of Commons
• Reducing the number of MPs, and redrawing constituency boundaries

The new coalition Government’s Budget in June announced deep cuts in public spending which are going to hit groups like families, the disabled and those looking for work.

This was a sharp contrast with the previous Government which made it a priority to protect the most vulnerable in our society when the financial crisis struck.
