Congratulations to Cammy Day, who has won the Edinburgh City Council by-election in Forth Ward, most of which is in Edinburgh North & Leith constituency.
I’ve worked closely with Cammy during his election campaign, and he is full of enthusiasm which will serve the area well. It was a good result for Labour – our share of the vote stayed the same which is always difficult in a by-election. The SNP share of the vote went up slightly.
Big losers on the night were the LibDems who came in a poor fourth, the same as in Glenrothes.
For comment on the by-election, have a look at Cammy Day’s blog, and also the blog of Edinburgh Labour Leader, Andrew Burns.
