As an MP I know well from meetings and my post-bag that people across North Edinburgh and Leith show a great deal of interest in environmental issues. They are concerned with international efforts to combat climate change as well as the conservation work taking place in our local communities.

Friends of the Earth Scotland campaigns for solutions to environmental problems and is one of the country's most influential environmental campaigning organisations. FoE Scotland is part of the most extensive environmental network in the world, with almost 1 million supporters across five continents and more than 70 national organisations worldwide.

This group aims to make Montgomery Street Park a better place, a place where everyone can enjoy spending time playing, relaxing, gardening or just being in the park.

The group runs a series of community events in the park, including picnics and tea parties, community gardening, basketball tournaments, football 5-aside, picnics and has also been involved in shaping local initiatives such as Streetlife, the Leith Open Spaces Project and the Planters Project.
