Mark has condemned the announcement made today [28th October] that Hachette UK, the owners of Chambers Harrap, are to go ahead with the closure of their Edinburgh operations.

He said:

'I am extremely angry at the way in which the company have gone ahead with this closure in spite of the good arguments and alternatives suggested by the workforce. The decision is a kick in the teeth for the staff who have worked so loyally for the company over many years.

I would urge the company at least to assist their staff to find alternative employment and to agree generous redundancy terms to any staff who do find themselves without jobs.'
