Mark has joined with local residents in a campaign to save the No 13 bus route which was only partially reprieved last year after a big campaign which included the National Galleries of Scotland.
The No 13 used to run from Leith through the New Town past the National Gallery of Modern Art to Craigleith. Originally, the entire route was to be withdrawn, but eventually Edinburgh Council agreed to give an emergency subsidy to cover just the part of the route from the New Town to Ravelston.
Now, the future of the entire route is up for debate again as Edinburgh Council decides what, if any, subsidy is to be given. This time, as well as withdrawal of the entire route, the options include restoring the original 13 route, reducing the frequency from half hour to hourly, or even extending it to replace other withdrawn routes.
Following approaches to him from a number of local residents, Mark, whose constituency covers most of the 13 route, Mark has just launched a campaign to 'Bring Back our Buses' covering the no 13 route but also other threatened services. The campaign includes a petition, website, and a facebook group.
