Mark was re-elected to represent Edinburgh North and Leith on Thursday, 6 May, with 37.5 % of the vote. Turnout was 68.4%, an increase of 6% on 2005 which is good news for democracy in general. For full details of the result click here. Mark said:
"I am very grateful to the people of North Edinburgh and Leith for the confidence they have shown in me by re-electing me as their MP in the UK Parliament. I will continue to do my best to represent the interests of local people, both in Parliament and in our community.
“We ran a positive campaign in the election in our constituency, and I believe that was one of the reasons why our share of the vote, and the total votes cast in our favour, both increased."
