Reacting to news that 480 jobs are to be cut by Standard Life in Edinburgh, Mark said:
 
"This is another deeply worrying announcement for the financial sector in Edinburgh and a real blow for the loyal workforce.

”I will be seeking an urgent meeting with Standard Life to make sure that everything is done to help the staff affected.

“There needs to be a proper dialogue with the unions and whether it is through re-deployment or assistance to find new employment elsewhere, the staff affected by this announcement should be fully supported.

“When Barclay's announced the takeover of Standard Life Bank, in January, Sarah Boyack MSP and I expressed concern about what it would mean for jobs. It looks like our concerns were fully justified."
