Mark is to meet with senior management at Barclays Bank to discuss the implications of its takeover of the operations of the Edinburgh-based Standard Life Bank. Mark said:
“I want to find out more about what this means for jobs, both for existing employees and for the future. Barclays have told me that they didn’t anticipate any job losses in the foreseeable future, and that’s obviously welcome.
However, I would hope that Barclays would see the advantage of actually expanding operations in Edinburgh following this takeover – there are many people in Edinburgh with experience in the financial services sector who Barclays could draw on if they decided to expand further.”
Mark plans to meet this week with Deanna Oppenheimer, Chief Executive, UK Retail Banking, Barclays Bank plc. |
